Get $9.94 off initial order from Hostgator by using coupon code 'creatingrevenue'

I’m Back at Hostgator

By Jason | Feb 23, 2009

I have rejoined the Hostgator.com team as a Level 1 Systems Administrator and can no longer participate in the Hostgator Affiliate Program that has treated me well. The coupon code ‘creatingrevenue’ still works though and will get you $9.94 off your first month of hosting with any new account with them.

Hostgator is hiring experienced Windows and Linux Administrators as well as Support Technicians to work the live chat and support phones. If you would like me to personally give your resume to the top man in charge and skip out on the HR route, please use the comments or our contact form above under ‘Contact’ to get a hold of me so we can set it up.

The pay is super great, employees get free lunch and dinners, there’s a employee gameroom and gym, can dress how you want, management is laid back and they will even help you with relocation expenses of up to $5000. With the recession as it is today, you need to find a job that is stable and wont be laying off employees. Hostgators customer rate is sky rocketing and based off of global economics, not just the US’s.

Contact me and lets make this happen.

Do you have to work on site or do they allow you to telecommute? Isn’t the main site somewhere in the Houston area?

They only do onsite job placement but yeah, the main office is on the northwest side of Houston off of 290.

Hostgator was always one the most popular hosting companies out there. Congratulations on joining them. Too bad you can’t participate in their affiliate program though. But can’t you reg your aff account on somebody’s else name? Like your father/brother/mother/etc…

It’s not worth losing my job if they found out. Plus as an employee, I need to promote the company for free to ensure good job security don’t you think?

Honestly I don’t see why employees can’t join the affiliate program but I’m not going to stir any crap up here to find out why either. :)

Gratz on the job… Hostgator is awesome hosting… Don’t know about working there. Don’t have any friends who work there.

I agree that employees should be allowed to join their own company’s affiliate program. I have the same problem where I work for my day job. They already get 55-60 hrs a week from me, and I’m salaried… no overtime.

You’d think if I were willing to spend another 20 promoting their affiliate program on my on time in the evenings that they would want to “share the payout love” with me. But noooooo… They would rather give it to some random Joe and have me put in the the other 20 hrs working for free for them… Not going to happen. I just picked different programs…

Good luck with the new job.

PS: You ever decide what you’re doing with your site?

Personally I like hostgator. They host my site now and I’ve never had problems with their service. I switched to hostgator about a year ago from dreamhost. Dreamhost’s service and tech support was awful. Hostgator gets my issues solved quickly, and the techs I’ve traded emails with all seem to know what they’re doing.

Keep up the good work over there and good luck on your job with them! I’d love to see a pic of the data center someday! How exactly do they do it? Individual rack servers, a nice blade and SAN environment, or what? Does hostgator actually own the data center, or is they’re equipment co-located in a secure spot with other businesses?

Hostgator leases racks over at thePlanet.com which has two datacenters, one in Dallas, Tx and one in Houston, TX. Here are some pictures of our servers: http://www.hostgator.com/network.shtml

As for Hostgator, they own a 4 story building in Houston, TX which houses the system admins (me), chat/phone techs, sales and pending department, abuse department and all the other marketing, affiliate and HR staff. You can see it here: http://tinyurl.com/dlw2w6

Congrats on your new job. I see you are using the hostgator banners still. is it not against their TOS?

The banners are free links now. No affiliate linking from them. I am basically giving away free links to them. I work there so business I bring in only means job security.

I love HostGator…and got a chance to see the new building in H-Town(I live about 1hr and a half away from). I once thought about applying for support team but have no degrees…still just from my actual real life experiences, I know I can answer at least 80% of questions asked by customers except for one: when do aff commission come out as I just started promoting at the begininng of this year and made sales??

Also, please share some detailed tips for earning more as a affiliate with HostGator??

You should see some of the people we got on chat/phones. We call them chat monkeys for a reason… heh.

I could get you on as a chat tech no problem. Just shoot me your info and I will have HR call you. You can actually stay an hour later off the clock and have some of us systems admins teach you linux and you could move up quickly. Specially to sales and pending if you wish to go that route.

As for affiliate payouts. Depending on how you do it. If you do it thru CJ.com then its aprox. 60 days. If you do it thru the Hostgator site then its like 30 days.

If you really want to sale hostgator customers… do tutorial on using cpanel or setting up wordpress via fantastico in cpanel. Or better yet, how to make money from being an affiliate at hostgator. :)

    Hi,

Are all jobs based in the US? Do they have a UK or European branch?

Thanks for the 9.94 discount coupon, i am thinking about to host my sites in host gator, but just afraid with the server crowd, i heard that they host more than 1000 domains in one server. Is it true? you are the right person to ask.

This is soooo not true. Hostgator has over 960 shared servers at the moment and it is growing each week. This does not include the hundreds and hundreds of dedicated servers and windows hosting servers we have as well.

Each server has no more than a hundred or so customers and our servers can take it without any issue. We have load restrictions and monitoring networks in place. If any one user is creating a load, we can take them out right away to insure the rest of the sites on the box remain up.

It is true that each customer can host unlimited domains but in all honesty, I rarely see customers having more than 3 to 6 sites each and they share the processes, cpu and memory with the primary domain name. So this creates no issue with load for the box.

I actually host all of my sites from Hostgator servers and NEVER have any issues with them.

So I wouldn’t worry about that rumor. We do not oversell like some people make everyone believe we do.

    Hi Jason,
I was interested in applying for a support tech position at Hostgator and would like to get in touch with you. I do live in the Houston area.

Hostgator and bluehost both are among the world’s top web hosting companies. Yes the hostgator coupon discount is attractive, but i wonder if there any other promotion that can compete with bluehost’s monthly fee as low as $4.

Congrats on the job. Sorry about the affiliate program. I guess they feel it would be a conflict of interest?
