As for the domain, I just registered CROMediaGroup.com for a parent company called what? You got it, CRO Media Group (CRO = Creating Revenue Online) in which I will put all of my online ventures under. I just got the DBA (Business License) and will be opening a bank account for it soon enough.

Among those online ventures is my Craigslist company in which I have 2 employees, CreatingRevenueOnline.com, my blog and site flipping ventures and my newest blog I am working on, ThemeMyCell.com which will be providing themes for iPhones, Blackberry’s and Windows Mobile devices . I have 3 employees with that project working on themes that will be released daily very soon.

I might just turn this blog into an info blog about those programs. All with the exception of the Craigslist deal. I don’t want it to get flooded and put me out of business there.

I will be posting some good stuff on here in the future. So don’t go anywhere.

It is actually like medieval days out there… food and fuel shortages, contaminated water and darkness half the time with no A/C. It is really aweful! I am thinking of going back to the mountains and just live there. None of this dual home crap.

Everyone with a successful blog can tell you that if you don’t keep a posting schedule and you fall behind, your blog will fail. So what do you do when you run out of ideas for articles?

My favorite method for coming up with ideas is from RSS feeds. I use Google Reader and have about 60 rss feeds that I get daily from all kinds of niches. Sites like Geekologie.com , LifeHacker.com and other tech sites often crawl RSS feeds to find articles for their sites. There’s nothing like stealing your content from other sites I tell ya!

Just make sure you give a link back to the author or blog at the bottom of your article and never, and I mean never, copy and paste their content as your own. Not only is this trashy and wrong, but Google will penalize you both for duplicate content.

This method doesn’t really hold well in the MMO (Making Money Online) niche crowd. I have been tempted to write articles on methods I learned from Jason over at TheUniversityKid.com even though I changed them up a bit and are having successes with them.

But I do use this method for finding articles to write about for blogs I am flipping. So signup to Google Reader and start subscribing. Starting with mine. :)

I suffered a little bit this month on affiliate referrals because I haven’t been posting my BANS updates and revenue reports as of late. To tell you the truth, I have been focusing on flipping websites, working Craigslist and working on my LayawayGuns.com startup. BANS and Hostgator affiliate sales are where I make the most money from.

I decided to see how much the CreatingRevenueOnline.com blog would go for so I put it up for sale on DigitalPoint.com and the highest offer I got was for $1600. I might, just might, have taken it if it had been for $3000 or over. But it’s good to see that my site is getting more traffic and the worth is going up.

My Alexa Rating is now at 508,632 (It was over 2 million last month) and my Google PageRank is at 3. It is bound to move up maybe to 4 on the next Google update. I have been really putting my links out there.

Recruit a System Administrator and get $2500
Recruit a PHP/Perl Programmer and get $2000
Recruit a Chat/Phone Support Rep and get $500

There are a few requirements:

1. They must be able to legally work in our Houston Headquarters.
2. They must be employed for 90 days in order to be paid.
3. The employee needs to be full-time to get this referral bonus.
4. You must fill out the referral form before their first interview.
5. You cannot refer yourself.

They will help with relocation for system administrators and programmers so as long as they are legal to work in the USA, they are easy to get hired.

You can work the cool factors of Hostgator such as the employee gameroom with pool table, air hockey table and foosball table or the employee fitness center which employees can use before and after shifts or during shift breaks.  You can also mention that administrators get triple monitor workstations and tech support gets dual monitor workstations.

You can recruit online with forums and employment listings or pay for ads in local newspapers. Recruiting just 4 system administrators will net you $10,000 after 90 days. It can’t get any easier than this.

All you need to do is get the potential employees name, phone number and email address and fill that information into the referral form . Then just forward the persons resume and info over to the hr department at Hostgator and if they get the job, you are set!

The other reason for lack of posts was that I have been working my butt off trying to get my other business, LayawayGuns.com , into the final phase of start-up so we can launch soon.

The big news I just read is that Jason from theUniversityKid.com is having a blog flipping contest . I think it is a great idea for a contest to not only show people what it takes to flip a website, but to also earn money from the lesson. There will be no real losers in this contest as everyone will be flipping sites and making money.

I myself will be competing in this contest and have a few tricks up my sleeve to make my team the winner.

The biggest question most of you have is "What do I do during/after the flip? ".

First off, the payment.

On a recent flip, I asked the buyer if he would transfer the money to my bank account instead of using paypal, mainly because I don’t like the percentage they take out. The buyer said he didn’t feel safe doing this and that paypal was the only option he felt good about using. He stated with paypal, he could file a dispute and receive a refund if the deal had gone bad.

So paypal might not be such a bad idea after all and if you explain this to the customer during the sale, they might feel more at ease about the whole transaction and things will go smoother.

Google Checkout is another payment option you might consider. I have not used their service so you will need to check into that yourself.

Secondly, the domain transfer.

My domain names were registered through Godaddy.com (Although I use Name.com now.) and was easily transferred to the new owner through the domain manager. You simply log into the Godaddy domain manager, select the domain name and then click on the ‘account change’ icon. This will allow you to input the users email address or godaddy account username as the new owner.

You will have to check into what it takes to transfer ownership with other registrars you are registered with.

Third, the site transfer.

There are a few ways you can do this and even make you an affiliate sale in the process.

* The method I use most often is to simply have the buyer signup for a Hostgator account (have them use your affiliate link so you make a $100 commission on the signup.) and as part of Hostgator’s service, they will transfer all files and databases over to the new account. Make sure you tell Hostgator which files and databases to move over or they might transfer everything and you do not want that to happen.

* Another great way is to signup for a Hostgator reseller account and put each website you own or plan to flip under its own account with full cpanel and ftp access. You can offer 1 to 12 months of free hosting with the flip or offer the buyer hosting for a cheap price and have residual income coming in from the flip.

* If the customer prefers another host to Hostgator then you are left with 2 choices. You can either backup the database and zip it and the contents of the website into separate zip or tar.gz files and hand them over to the buyer where he will have to install and restore the databases himself or you can take the zip or tar.gz files you made earlier and setup the account for him/her as part of the sale.

My favorite plugin tool for backing up and restoring wordpress databases is WP-DBManager . You can also use it to optimize your databases and schedule regular backups that can be emailed to you. It is a great plugin and I highly recommend it.

Note: Make sure to not switch the nameservers over to the new servers until the website and databases have been completely setup and confirmed to be working. This will make the switchover go smoothly. You can make another backup of the database right after the nameserver switch and restore it on the new server so you do not miss any new comments or posts.

When I started out with my blog, I was really hell bent on helping people make money online. Notably single mothers and fathers and people trying to make it through college on their own working crap jobs to pay the bills.

At that time I had never heard of John Chow, Problogger or Shoemoney… Actually my first MMO read was JohnCow.com and I thought I could do better than they did for teaching people how to make money.

Onto my failure… I seen this infomercial on tv one night about buying and selling wholesale. A company called SMC . I figured I could teach people how to sell the stuff on eBay and it would be a good venture for those needing the extra income.

I signed up for the silver package which was $24.95 plus $15 S&H and another $39.95 a month for 11 months.

When I got the box of sales material and catalogs… I was totally petrified. For every 1 product that was worth selling, there were 100 that were total crap, the stuff you would find on a dollar store shelf.

So I made a list of the good products and got descriptions and pictures… I posted them on eBay and quickly found that there were 30 of the exact same product in each category. The low profit margin was making all of us SMC sellers slash prices by just pennies to make a sale.

With the eBay and Paypal fees and the low profit margins from selling online… I made a total of $68.52 in profit after about 2 weeks of work.

So not only was this a complete failure of concept, it’s also costing me $39.95 for the next 8 months for the membership. Their refund policy states I cannot get a refund because I already started selling and using the material included in the kit and I cannot stop paying because they report on your credit report. This is what they told me over the phone.

I am looking into how I can get my membership cancelled or at least try and figure out how to move the product and recover what I have spend on it.

Maybe this would be good starter content for a site I can flip. A ready to go shopping cart site and all the buyer has to have is an SMC membership to get the products. I won’t go so low as to try and sell the buyer a membership through an affiliate link as I don’t believe the system they are offering is worth the money.
